Born and raised in Boulder, Colorado, I have been an avid outdoorsman my entire life, taking pictures along the way. My passion for photography was sparked in high school where all of my time revolved around skateboarding. From there it progressed to taking pictures of skiing, my backpacking and camping adventures, and finally, to fine art landscapes and weddings.
After high school I went to Colorado Mountain College in the Roaring Fork Valley to pursue my career in photography. 10 years of living in The Valley later, I came home and live in the mountains outside of Boulder.
I've always felt most comfortable with a camera in my hands. In every day life you can see an opportunity for a great picture almost anywhere - it just takes luck and speed to capture it from there. When working with clients I try to walk the fine line between documentary and editorial approaches; waiting for those moments as a fly on the wall, while giving direction and posing when needed
As a wedding photographer, many of the people I work with have never been in front of a camera like this, so what's important to me is what you want to get out of this experience. In my eyes the best pictures come naturally when people can feel confident, let go of the idea of being photographed, and spend their time doing what they enjoy. In my professional career nothing has made me happier than when we can make that happen.
